Major Recruitment is seeking a skilled Laser Cutting Operator to join a well-established company in the Derbyshire/Nottingham area, who are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery including Bystronic and BLM systems.
Job Type: Full-time Permanent
Salary: £27,500 – £30,000 per year (Depending on Experience)
Their cutting-edge setup includes:
- Flat Laser Cutting – 4 Flatbed Lasers (including a 6m laser with Antil Warehouse System)
- Tube Laser Cutting – 2 tube lasers (cutting up to 152mm diameter)
Key Responsibilities
- Complete all required paperwork accurately, including job cards and drawing checks
- Select and inspect materials according to job specifications and quality standards
- Handle materials with care to prevent damage
- Achieve a production target of 10 cut hours per 12-hour shift, or escalate issues if unable
- Label all materials and job cards with correct GIN numbers
- Verify quantities and load cut parts accurately onto trolleys or pallets
- Prioritise jobs according to delivery schedules and transport methods
- Carry out final inspections and stamp job cards to confirm quality
- Follow the “1st off” process, including stamping length, width, and thickness
- Maintain a clean and safe working area in line with housekeeping schedules
- Clean machine and dust box
- Work in line with Lean manufacturing and 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain)
- Proactively identify and report any safety, efficiency, or cost-saving opportunities

- Previous laser cutting experience is preferred
- High attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
- Able to follow procedures accurately and consistently
- Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
- Physically fit and able to handle materials safely
- Knowledge of Lean / 5S principles is an advantage
