Major Recruitment is seeking a skilled Laser Cutting Operator to join a well-established company in the Derbyshire/Nottingham area, who are equipped with state-of-the-art machinery including Bystronic and BLM systems.

Job Type: Full-time Permanent

Salary: £27,500 – £30,000 per year (Depending on Experience)

Their cutting-edge setup includes:

  • Flat Laser Cutting – 4 Flatbed Lasers (including a 6m laser with Antil Warehouse System)
  • Tube Laser Cutting – 2 tube lasers (cutting up to 152mm diameter)

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete all required paperwork accurately, including job cards and drawing checks
  • Select and inspect materials according to job specifications and quality standards
  • Handle materials with care to prevent damage
  • Achieve a production target of 10 cut hours per 12-hour shift, or escalate issues if unable
  • Label all materials and job cards with correct GIN numbers
  • Verify quantities and load cut parts accurately onto trolleys or pallets
  • Prioritise jobs according to delivery schedules and transport methods
  • Carry out final inspections and stamp job cards to confirm quality
  • Follow the “1st off” process, including stamping length, width, and thickness
  • Maintain a clean and safe working area in line with housekeeping schedules
  • Clean machine and dust box
  • Work in line with Lean manufacturing and 5S principles (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardise, Sustain)
  • Proactively identify and report any safety, efficiency, or cost-saving opportunities

  • Previous laser cutting experience is preferred
  • High attention to detail and a strong focus on quality
  • Able to follow procedures accurately and consistently
  • Strong communication skills and a team-focused attitude
  • Physically fit and able to handle materials safely
  • Knowledge of Lean / 5S principles is an advantage
