Major recruitment are recruiting for a Cemetery Maintenance Operative to join our client's team based in Yardley.
Pay Rate: £13.45 per hour
Location: Yardley Road, South Yardley, Birmingham B25 8NA
Working Hours: Flexibility required across opening hours, including weekends. 36.6 h weekly
Position Type: Temporary / Ongoing
Key Responsibilities:
- Grounds Maintenance: Litter picking, emptying refuse/dog waste bins, ground levelling, and seeding or turfing.
- Site Care: Clearing and maintaining paths, removing old floral displays, and undertaking winter maintenance duties when required.
- Security: Unlocking and locking the cemetery and crematoria sites in line with seasonal hours.
- Compliance: Identifying and reporting safety hazards, and completing basic paperwork such as vehicle check lists and timesheets.
Requirements (What You Need):
- Driving Licence: A valid Category C1 licence is essential, as you will be required to drive utility vehicles for site maintenance.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to undertake physical, manual tasks outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Experience: Previous experience in physical outdoor activities and working in a customer-facing environment is highly preferred.
- Communication: Good communication skills, with a respectful approach when interacting with bereaved family members and visitors.
- Teamwork: Able to work reliably on your own initiative and as part of a wider team.
