Major Recruitment are recruiting for a disciplined and detail-oriented Electrical Assembly Technician to join a specialist team in Birmingham.

Location: Birmingham (B18)

Pay Rate: £14.50 - £15.00 per hour

Working Hours: 08:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday

The Core Mission

  • Precision Assembly: Build and wire control panels for automated gates and entry systems from the ground up.
  • Component Integration: Correctly wire motor controllers, safety edges, photocells, loop detectors, and GSM intercoms.
  • Technical Interpretation: Translate complex electrical schematics and layout drawings into functional, high-quality assemblies.
  • Functional Testing: Rigorous testing of motor direction, limit switching, and safety circuits to ensure 100% reliability before dispatch.
  • Diagnostics: Identify and rectify faults during the assembly phase.

What You Must Bring

  • Proven Experience: A solid background in electrical assembly or panel building.
  • Technical Literacy: You must be able to read and interpret wiring diagrams without hand-holding.
  • Tool Proficiency: Expert use of hand tools, crimpers, and cable prep equipment.
  • Standards Focused: A working knowledge of low-voltage systems and a commitment to meeting BS/EN safety standards.

Advantageous Skills

  • Direct experience with gate motors or automated barrier systems.
  • Familiarity with PLC programming or logic controllers.
  • Relevant qualifications (NVQ Level 2/3 or City & Guilds).
