Location: Eye, Suffolk. Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Contract: Full Time, Permanent.

Our client has a fantastic opportunity to join their successful and fast-moving food manufacturer as a Production Planner & Purchasing Assistant, playing a key role in keeping production running seamlessly.

As part of their production planning team, in this role you'll support the smooth coordination of manufacturing across Dry Bulk and Wet Bulk operations. This is a hands-on, fast-paced planning role where you'll gain exposure to the full manufacturing process from raw materials through to finished products.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Production Planning: Maintain production schedules for the Dry Bulk, Wet Bulk, and food production areas to service customer requirements within the agreed daily machine and labour capacities. Communicate expected customer service delays with the sales order processing team to ensure effective customer communication. Liaise with the Purchasing Manager to ensure alignment of material availability and supply to service production requirements. Liaise with Production Manager(s) to ensure operational capabilities are aligned to deliver scheduled production requirements. Utilise data available from the incumbent ERP system and other sources to ensure production plan alignment with operational and business standards. Create and maintain Works Orders with the incumbent ERP system to ensure customer demand requirements are serviced and production dates and quantities are aligned. Process Works Orders to the agreed horizon to ensure effective picking and production operations are maintained. Maintain Finish Goods and WIP stock to the agreed levels to support customer and production requirements. Attend daily production meeting(s) as required to align schedules, capacity, and any operational challenges. Attend weekly Planning meeting to discuss forward production requirements, risks and opportunities.
  • Purchasing: Raise purchase orders daily as defined by MRP, checking logic and querying any exceptions. Chase inbound deliveries not booked in as per requested date. Advance or delay existing purchase orders to meet production schedule. Assist purchasing manager as required.

  • Good IT skills with knowledge of Excel, SAGE and ERP solutions.
  • Solid IT skills, particularly in Excel (advanced skills are a plus).
  • Confident communication skills across teams at all levels.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage a busy workload.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • A strong work ethic and eagerness to learn and develop.
