Excellent Rates + Overtime + 4 Day Week

Salary:

  • Days: £19.00 – £21.00 per hour DOE
  • Nights: £23.70 – £25.70 per hour DOE

Plenty of overtime available. For developing machinists with relevant setup/editing experience, training may be available, with starting rates from:

  • Days: £17.00 per hour
  • Nights: £21.70 per hour

The Role

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Vertical Borer to join a well-established heavy engineering company based in Sheffield. This is a great opportunity for a skilled machinist with experience on vertical boring machines, VTLs or large turning machinery to join a busy precision engineering environment. You will be machining large components to tight tolerances, working from engineering drawings and carrying out self-inspection using precision measuring equipment.

The role will involve working on Webster Bennett vertical borers, machining large castings, forgings and fabrications using materials such as carbon steel, stainless steel, duplex, copper and titanium.

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience as a Vertical Borer, VTL Machinist or large turning machinist
  • Ability to set and operate vertical boring machines
  • Experience machining large/heavy engineering components
  • Ability to read and work from engineering drawings
  • Confident using measuring equipment and working to tight tolerances

Experience with Webster Bennett machines or controls such as Fagor, Fanuc or Siemens would be highly desirable.
