Role Overview

You will join a creative scenic workshop team to fabricate high-quality metal structures, set pieces, and stage equipment. The role involves transforming artistic designs and technical drawings into safe, functional theatrical scenery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabrication: Cut, shape, and assemble mild steel, aluminium, and occasionally brass or bronze components using various workshop tools.
  • Welding: Perform high-quality MIG and TIG welding to join metal parts for scenic structures and lifting platforms.
  • Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret complex engineering drawings and weld symbols to meet exact production specifications.
  • Quality Control: Inspect finished welds and surfaces, ensuring they are smooth and meet strict theatrical safety and aesthetic standards.
  • Assembly & Testing: Build and dry-fit components in the workshop to ensure they are ready for onsite installation.
  • Maintenance: Maintain a clean and safe workspace, adhering to all health and safety regulations.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Technical Proficiency: Proven experience in MIG/TIG welding and general metal fabrication (e.g., grinding, bending, and sawing).
  • Certifications: Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds (or equivalent) in Welding/Fabrication.
