Major Players are partnering with a reputable, full service creative agency to recruit for a Strategy/Planning Director for a 12 month contract, to start in August 2026. This is a key hire for the company - you will be an influential member of the leadership team, charged with helping the agency grow and nurture its commercial client roster, working closely with client teams, the Head of Strategy and reporting to the MD, to deliver best-in-class thinking.
Key Responsibilities:
- Insight & Strategy: Demonstrate a strong ability to distil and translate learnings into deep audience first, data-driven insights and integrated, strategic narratives. Write influential briefs, leading to fresh, disruptive, and impactful work. Be up to date with innovative research techniques and trends to integrate into the planning process.
- New Business Development: Create strategic content and door opening narratives for bespoke new client approaches, working on pitches and converting wins. Write pitch-winning decks across a broad range of briefs: purpose, brand and product. Influence clients and build lasting relationships.
- Championing Effectiveness: Turn successful work into effectiveness case studies that win awards, based on solid marketing theory and models.
- Client Development: Build and maintain lasting and memorable relationships with clients and stakeholders. Develop new relationships as well as organically growing business with existing accounts.
Skills & Experience:
- At least 8 years of strategy experience, ideally with experience working in an independent agency setting.
- Broad experience in Brand (Strategy, Design, Campaigns), Product Marketing and Direct response.
- Proven experience delivering strategy and campaigns across a broad range of projects with stand out, memorable creative - ideally award-winning.
- Proven experience working on pitches and new business – this needs to be an area you enjoy and excel in as it will be a big part of your role.
- Team management experience – you will nurture and grow the team with multiple direct reports.

- Office location: South East London
- Hybrid working: 3 days per week in office (Tuesdays to Thursdays)
- Open to a 4 day working week or 9 day fortnight
