My client is a well-established, industry-leading structural steel company based in North Yorkshire. They have seen year-on-year success, with further growth plans for 2026. They offer a range of services from design, manufacturing through to installation, providing opportunities to service a multitude of sectors with a diverse client base across the UK.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Structural Steel Welder to join their team on a temporary to permanent basis. This opportunity gives a Welder the chance to work with one of the most respected companies in the UK, offering not only an excellent package but also job security.
Shift pattern: 6am-2:30pm - Monday-Friday
Main Duties:
- To read and interpret components within fabrication drawings to assess thickness and sizes of welds required.
- To control and minimise material distortion.
- To prep the area of work to receive material including pre-heating tools where needed.
- To check the quality of own work, clean down steel ready for paint, and check material for defects or spatter.
- To dress product, removing any sharp edges using grinding techniques.
- To mark work with identification number for traceability.
- To read additional weld sheets for complex work.
- To gauge material where needed to correct depth and size.
- To use different consumables depending on project requirements such as Flux Core Wire.
- Structural steel welding of plates and sections on a production line up to 100mm thick.
Role Requirements:
- Candidates should be time-served Welders or possess equivalent fabrication standards through experience in MIG.
- Experience working in industrial and heavy industrial environments.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to inspect own work.
- Ability to read engineering drawings.
- Excellent eye for detail.
- Flexibility with regards to working overtime.
