A leading organisation in the UK’s transport and infrastructure sector, operating a network of strategic assets essential to the nation’s trade and supply chains, is seeking an Interim Senior Legal Counsel for a 12-month assignment. This hire is driven by a recent departure and an upcoming maternity leave. The organisation needs a senior lawyer to provide robust, commercially focused legal advice and manage risk across a broad range of matters.
The Role
- Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of commercial contracts (including warehousing, leasing, supplier & procurement, infrastructure and construction, energy supply agreements).
- Advise on legislation impacting the business, including changes in UK and EU law.
- Provide legal input on health & safety, environment, employment (including TUPE), marine, and commercial discussions (including potential M&A).
- Manage disputes and oversee external counsel, ensuring cost control and quality advice.
- Develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders and act as a trusted advisor.
- Support legal training initiatives and maintain legal precedents.
- Mentor junior team members and deputise for General Counsel when required.
What We’re Looking For
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 7+ years PQE.
- Strong drafting, negotiation, and communication skills.
- Commercial approach with ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Previous experience in infrastructure, transport, or logistics sectors advantageous.
- Leadership skills and ability to work independently and collaboratively.
