A global, EU‑focused technology business is seeking an experienced Interim Data Privacy Counsel to support and further develop its international data privacy programme over an 8‑month engagement. This role will act as the primary privacy contact across the organisation, partnering closely with the General Counsel and senior stakeholders. Strong GDPR expertise is essential, given the company’s European footprint and global customer base.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and operationalise the organisation’s global data privacy framework
  • Serve as the central point of contact for all data protection matters
  • Advise on GDPR and related international privacy regulations
  • Support privacy risk assessments, documentation, and internal advisory work
  • Provide guidance on AI governance and data protection implications under evolving EU regulation
  • Partner cross‑functionally with legal, compliance, and business teams
  • Manage privacy workflows and data mapping through OneTrust

Experience & Qualifications

  • England & Wales qualified Solicitor with 4+ years’ experience in data privacy law (in‑house or advising global organisations)
  • Hands‑on GDPR expertise
  • CIPP/E (or equivalent EU privacy certification) required
  • Experience advising on AI compliance and emerging privacy risks
  • Familiarity with OneTrust or similar privacy platforms
  • Comfortable operating in a global, matrixed environment
  • Able to work with EU leadership while operating on US Eastern Time hours

Nice to Have

  • Experience supporting privacy programmes in international or spin‑off environments
  • Exposure to EU customers and regulatory expectations
