Interim Legal Counsel, Compliance (TMT & E-Commerce) 6-Month Contract
MLA is working on an exciting interim opportunity with a global technology and digital commerce business seeking a Legal Counsel (Compliance) to join its high-performing legal team on an initial 6-month contract.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially-minded lawyer with strong experience across TMT, e-commerce, platform governance and regulatory compliance to support a fast-paced, international business operating at scale.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise business stakeholders on day-to-day compliance matters across digital platforms, e-commerce operations and product launches.
- Conduct legal and compliance assessments for new products, services and business initiatives, identifying risks and developing practical mitigation strategies.
- Support platform governance and content moderation initiatives, providing legal guidance on evolving regulatory requirements.
- Monitor and analyse international regulatory developments impacting e-commerce and online platforms, including consumer protection, platform liability and marketplace regulation.
- Translate complex legal requirements into clear, actionable advice for commercial and product teams.
About You
- 4β10 years' PQE gained within a leading law firm and/or technology, digital platform or e-commerce business.
- Qualified lawyer in England & Wales.
- Strong knowledge of e-commerce regulation, consumer protection, advertising and unfair competition frameworks.
- Experience advising on GDPR, DSA, DMA and broader digital regulatory issues.
- Familiarity with privacy, cybersecurity, telecommunications and emerging AI governance topics would be highly advantageous.
- Fluent in both
English and Mandarin , with the ability to work closely with China-based legal, product and business stakeholders.
Desirable Experience
- Marketplace or cross-border e-commerce experience.
- Data compliance, content compliance, platform governance or AI compliance projects.
- Strong commercial judgement and the ability to deliver pragmatic, business-focused solutions.
