Our client is a leading international retail group operating across multiple well-known home improvement and trade brands in Europe. With a strong presence spanning physical stores, e-commerce, and digital platforms, the organisation is undergoing significant transformation across its technology, data, and customer experience functions.
The legal team plays a key role in supporting large-scale digital initiatives, supplier ecosystems, and complex commercial arrangements across multiple jurisdictions. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and highly commercial, with close alignment to procurement, technology, and product teams.
This is a 6-month interim position for a mid-level lawyer to support both commercial contracting and technology/digital matters. The role will sit within a collaborative in-house legal team and report into a senior commercial/technology legal lead.
The successful candidate will work across a broad range of contractual matters, combining traditional commercial agreements with technology-focused workstreams.
Key Responsibilities- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts, including supplier agreements, services agreements, and framework arrangements
- Advising on technology and digital contracts, including SaaS, software licensing, cloud, data, and IT outsourcing agreements
- Supporting procurement and business stakeholders on strategic projects and day-to-day contractual queries
- Providing pragmatic, business-focused legal advice in a fast-moving retail environment
- Assisting with contract standardisation and process improvements
- Liaising with cross-functional teams including technology, digital, procurement, and product
- UK-qualified lawyer (or equivalent) with c. 3–6 PQE (flexible)
- Strong experience in commercial contracts, ideally with exposure to technology/digital agreements
- In-house or private practice background (or a blend of both)
- Ability to operate independently and manage a varied workload
- Commercially minded, pragmatic, and comfortable working with non-legal stakeholders
- Experience in retail, technology, or consumer-focused sectors is desirable but not essential
- 6-month initial contract
