We are looking for an experienced commercial lawyer for a new 12 month contract to work with a leading financial services client.

Ideal experience:

  • A strong and experienced commercial lawyer adept at drafting, advising on and negotiating commercial contracts with suppliers, particularly outsourcings, hosted services, artificial intelligence and software agreements.
  • In-depth working knowledge of UK and EU Data protection law, particularly in terms of drafting and negotiating contract terms.
  • Desirable to have an understanding of the related regulatory requirements, such as the Operational Resilience framework including the EBA Guidelines on Outsourcing and related PRA requirements, and the ability to apply this practically to contracting.
  • Banking/financial industry experience or experience working with a law firm or in-house legal function is beneficial but not essential.

Key responsibilities:

  • Providing legal counsel and support in relation to a broad range of commercial contracts, complex outsourcing negotiations, technology law, data protection law and applicable regulation impacting this sphere (e.g. Operational Resilience and third party management requirements).
  • Act as a legal subject matter expert on an individual basis, as well as when partnering with other regional and country legal colleagues across the globe on multi-jurisdictional deals requiring local implementation.
  • Review and assess legal risks in relation to Artificial Intelligence use cases.

The anticipated start date is April 2026.
