We are urgently seeking a senior, hands-on data protection and compliance manager to work within a complex, multi-site UK organisation operating at national scale. The role is pitched initially as a 12 month contract.
You will act as the central data protection and corporate compliance adviser, supporting day-to-day operations across multiple business units. You will sit within the legal function and work closely with senior legal leadership, IT, information security, HR, health and safety, and executive stakeholders. You will also serve as the primary external contact for the regulator on all data protection matters.
Your remit covers ownership of the organisation’s data privacy framework, ongoing compliance with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and active monitoring of legal and regulatory developments. You will lead on policy design and implementation, maintain centralised data processing records, and embed compliance through practical training across the business.
This role is highly operational. You will advise on DPIAs, manage data subject rights requests, investigate and respond to data incidents, and lead internal audits. You will provide clear, commercial advice to non-legal stakeholders and escalate key risks and issues to senior legal leadership as needed.
The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge of UK data protection law combined with the credibility to operate independently in a fast-moving environment. You will be comfortable balancing competing priorities, influencing at senior level, and translating regulation into workable business solutions.
This is a visible role with genuine responsibility, broad exposure, and the opportunity to shape data protection standards across a large, operationally diverse organisation.
