Purpose of Role: Senior lawyer with significant OSA and risk assessment DSA knowledge and experience. This role will involve providing content regulation advice and regulatory engagement in respect of these regulations, with a particular focus on the OSA and DSA risk assessment process.
Responsibilities:
- Day to day management of OSA and DSA regulatory risk assessment process.
- Providing advice on OSA and DSA risk assessments.
- Providing advice on OSA interpretation, obligations and compliance.
- Leading the day-to-day management of the 2026 risk assessment process (March–September).
- Supporting preparation of supplementary documents for the European Commission (Autumn).
- Managing the post-submission review and iteration process.
- Advising on OSA obligations across workstreams within the Content Regulation pillar.
- Providing legal and strategic advice on internal compliance incidents.
- Reviewing and advising on Ofcom guidance published from July 2026 and supporting the resulting implementation programme.
- Providing SME UK content regulation advice on product and feature-related queries and projects.
- Providing SME support on non EU/UK risk assessments to GPL e.g. Indonesia.
- Providing legal input into escalations processes for draft laws and guidelines.
- Advising to ensure client's position on the OSA is articulated effectively externally.
- Providing legal and strategic advice in respect of internal compliance incidents/internal audits.
- Leading on Ofcom RFIs working XFN to ensure response meets regulatory requirements and minimises legal risk to client.
- Supporting on other regulatory engagement including escalations; attending regulatory meetings with Ofcom.
Minimum requirements:
- A senior lawyer with at least 6 years PQE (including a minimum of 2 years in a regulatory and/or product legal compliance role from a well regarded private practice team or established in-house department).
- Experience advising on laws relating to user generated content, with specific experience navigating the OSA and risk assessments under the OSA and DSA.
- Ability to work as a team player who can effectively work with, manage and coordinate colleagues, internal stakeholders and cross-functional stakeholders.
Preferred skills/qualifications:
- Self-motivated legal professional with the resilience, focus, and integrity to persevere through complex challenges, and a steadfast commitment to collective success.
- Experience in digital platforms, or media, or deep understanding of these sectors through prior legal advisory work.
- Ability to manage a large number and variety of high profile and strategic projects and navigate ambiguous legal and regulatory environments.
- Previous experience of advising on the practical implementation of new laws.
- Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and proficient in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organisation.
