Major Recruitment Limited has an exciting opportunity for a dedicated and experienced Ofsted Registered Manager to lead a Children’s Home in the Northeast of England. We are seeking a Registered Manager who firmly believes that every child has the potential to thrive. The successful candidate will be committed to delivering trauma-informed, relationship-based care, creating a safe, stable, and nurturing home environment for children and young people.

The Registered Manager will ensure that every child and young person feels valued, heard, and supported, with opportunities to develop essential life skills that promote independence, self-worth, and positive outcomes. A strong focus will be placed on working collaboratively with external agencies and services to ensure each child has access to the best possible support network. Children and young people within the home will require ongoing support, guidance, and development, and the Registered Manager will play a key role in driving high-quality, child-centred care.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead on the development and implementation of the home’s care approach
  • Shape and embed a therapeutic model of care aligned with legislation and Ofsted requirements
  • Develop, implement, and review policies, procedures, and safeguarding practices
  • Build the service from the ground up, ensuring full regulatory compliance
  • Stay up to date with legislative and regulatory changes
  • Ensure staff are trained, supported, and able to meet the individual needs of young people
  • Develop and oversee staff development and performance plans
  • Liaise effectively with children and young people, staff, families, professionals, and external agencies
  • Act as a strong advocate for children and young people, ensuring their voices remain central to all decision-making
  • Demonstrate care, compassion, enthusiasm, and commitment to promoting wellbeing
  • Lead with drive, adaptability, and effective change management skills

About You

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management (Children & Young People) or be willing to complete
  • Significant experience in children’s residential care, including leadership/management
  • Strong knowledge of Ofsted frameworks, safeguarding, and legislation
  • Excellent communication, organisational, and decision-making skills
  • A genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children
  • An enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one)

Monday to Friday
Rotational on call
