My Shrewsbury based client is currently recruiting for an Architect – Hybrid working

My client is looking for an ambitious Architect who is keen to grow in a busy studio. You will have both design and technical skills, be fluent in problem solving and have a strong eye for detail.

You will be responsible for planning and designing buildings and land areas regarding functional and aesthetic requirements, budgets and timescales.

37 hours per week (Hybrid working)

25 days holiday plus bank holidays and increasing with service

Responsibilities:-

  • Take receipt of a brief from your Manager and with only limited intervention from them, develop it into a design in line with the RIBA Plan of Work
  • Contribute to and help co-ordinate the development of Pre-Construction Information in line with the RIBA Plan of Work and specified Deliverables and DRM
  • Achieve efficient and effective designs using robust and sustainable design solutions
  • Prepare compliant designs by following UK Construction Law, British Standards and relevant CoPs
  • Choose or advise on material selection
  • Author specifications using Company’s NBS Masters. Source and evidence supporting and up-to-date technical information from manufacturers
  • Participate in Project Reviews and coordination workshops
  • Assist in gathering and preparing information required to support statutory submissions, such as Planning, Building Regulations and Building Safety Gateways
  • Negotiate with statutory bodies, write reports and complete statutory submissions (Planning Applications / Gateway submissions / Building Regulations etc)
  • Attend meetings and workshops with Clients, Designers, Contractors, and other Specialists
  • Support the Project Lead with the maintenance of the Design Risk Registers
  • Use Document Control on your project(s) in line with Company’s Protocols

Skills and experience:-

  • ARB registered Architect
  • Proven commercial and contractual awareness
  • Advanced knowledge of SketchUp, Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign and other digital imaging tools
  • Good knowledge of Autodesk Revit
  • Routine use of Newforma Project Centre for managing email, creating, issuing and preserving record documents and sharing files
