Ex-Military Vehicle Technicians & Mechanics – Fleet Maintenance Opportunities
Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Shifts: Day and Night Opportunities Available
Leaving the Armed Forces? Put Your Vehicle Maintenance Skills to Work!
Have you served in the British Army, Royal Navy or RAF and gained hands-on experience in vehicle maintenance, mechanical repairs, servicing or fault diagnosis? Perhaps you left the military some time ago and struggled to secure a civilian role that recognised your technical experience. You may have ended up working in a completely different sector, but you still have those mechanical skills and would welcome the opportunity to use them again.
We're working with a major UK automotive and fleet organisation in Doncaster that is keen to meet former military personnel with practical engineering and vehicle maintenance experience. Whether you've worked on military vehicles, heavy equipment, transport fleets or mechanical systems, your skills could transfer into a rewarding civilian career.
Come and Meet the Workshop Manager!
We're arranging a dedicated Workshop Open Day on Saturday 21 November 2026, giving you the opportunity to:
- Meet the Workshop Manager and learn about the company
- Tour the workshop and see the working environment
- Discuss your military experience and transferable technical skills
- Show what you know and demonstrate your capabilities
- Explore day and night shift opportunities
- Find out about potential training and career progression
You don't necessarily need experience working on civilian vehicles. We're particularly interested in people with practical mechanical aptitude, fault-finding experience and a willingness to learn.
Who Would Be Suitable?
We'd welcome applications from former military personnel with experience in:
- Vehicle maintenance and repair
- REME vehicle mechanics and recovery technicians
- RAF or Royal Navy mechanical engineering
- HGV, plant or heavy equipment maintenance
- Fleet servicing, inspections and diagnostics
- Mechanical and electrical fault finding
- Workshop maintenance and technical support
Both skilled and semi-skilled candidates are encouraged to apply.
Why Attend?
This is an opportunity to meet the people you'd potentially be working with, see the facilities first-hand and demonstrate what you can bring to the workshop. We recognise that military qualifications and experience don't always translate directly into civilian job titles. That's why we're interested in what you can actually do, not just what's written on your CV.
