We are supporting a well-established UK engineering business operating within the naval defence sector, delivering complex electrical systems for long-term, regulated programmes. As part of continued growth, the business is looking to appoint a Senior Design Electrical Engineer to play a key role in the design and delivery of naval platform systems. This is a senior, hands-on design role with real technical ownership and long-term programme visibility.

Alongside core naval work, the wider group also supports elements of the space industry, offering future scope to broaden exposure as the role and business develop.

The role

You will take responsibility for electrical design activities across naval platform systems, working from early concept through to manufacture and support. Key responsibilities include:

  • Electrical design of naval platform systems (power, control, monitoring & instrumentation)
  • Producing and reviewing electrical schematics, drawings, and technical documentation
  • Supporting design reviews, technical assurance, and configuration control
  • Working closely with manufacturing, systems, and mechanical teams
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant standards and customer requirements
  • Providing technical input across the full project lifecycle

This role sits firmly at senior level and will suit someone comfortable owning designs and supporting technical decision-making.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has significant industry experience as an Electrical Design Engineer
  • Has worked within naval, defence, marine, or other highly regulated environments
  • Has experience of platform or system-level electrical design
  • Is confident working to standards, documentation, and formal review processes

You must be a British National due to the nature of the work and security requirements.
