Major Food Group seeks experienced and qualified Beverage Manager to join our team at Carbone London! The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing wine inventory, developing an exceptional wine list, training staff, and enhancing the guest experience with expert wine knowledge. This role requires a blend of hospitality expertise, wine education, and business acumen.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work under the direction of the Regional Beverage Manager and General Manager to manage daily operations of all matters of beverage operations.
  • Develop and maintain a diverse and appealing wine list that complements the food menu and caters to various guest preferences.
  • Manage wine inventory: purchasing, receiving, storage, and stock rotation.
  • Conduct wine tastings and wine-pairing events for staff and guests.
  • Build relationships with wine distributors, wineries, and vendors to negotiate pricing and ensure timely supply.
  • Interact with the Head Bartender to best support them administratively.
  • Ensure all beverage policies and service responsibilities are upheld.
  • Offer and inspire exemplary guest service.
  • Establish policies and procedures for beverage staff, to include safety and personal hygiene.
  • Responsible for efficient, cost-effective operation of beverage, including but not limited to; labor management, inventory control, security and proper use of operating supplies and equipment.
  • Supervise daily activities related to production/delivery of quality product/service.
  • Assist with beverage purchase requisitions, assemble beverage outlet orders in beverage storeroom and deliver same to respective outlets.
  • Coach, counsel beverage team members as needed in order to ensure superior levels of performance.
  • Attend departmental meetings and administrative hearings as required.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Regional Beverage Manager and General Manager.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in fine dining, luxury hospitality, or retail wine sales.
  • 4 years of experience in Beverage Management, lead Sommelier, lead Bartender positions in a high volume upscale restaurant.
  • A deep knowledge of spirits, wine and all beverages.
  • Understanding and knowledge of distributors and suppliers in the market.
  • Available to work nights, weekends and holidays.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and Toast POS.
  • Proven team player willing to roll up your sleeves - a good leader should be willing and able to do whatever he or she asks of their team.
  • Must exemplify the highest standards in honesty, integrity, humility and leadership.
