We are looking for a 3D Piping Design Engineer to work on a 3 month contract on a Process plant near Stockport. The role will involve creating and developing the layout and 3D models for piping systems, ensuring designs meet safety codes, and optimising systems for factors like pressure, temperature, and flow rate. This role requires close collaboration with other engineering disciplines and adherence to project specifications and standards.

Key responsibilities:

  • Design and layout: Plan and create detailed blueprints, schematics, and 3D models for piping networks, including the placement of pipes, valves, and fittings, ensuring they can handle the pressure and temperature of the fluids they carry and meet performance requirements.
  • Select the right materials for pipes, considering factors like corrosion resistance, temperature limits, and mechanical properties, and ensure that all piping system designs adhere to relevant industry codes, standards, and safety regulations.
  • Prepare technical documents, generate isometrics, and perform quality and compliance checks on designs and vendor equipment.

Key skills:

  • The ideal candidate will be HNC qualified in Mechanical Engineering and have several years of Piping Design experience.
  • Proficiency in 3D and 2D Piping design software such as AutoCAD, PDMS, PLANT 3D or E3D.
  • Good documentation skills and attention to detail are essential.

This is a 3 month temporary contract outside IR-35.
