YOUR NEW JOB
As a Test Technician you will be responsible for assisting the Test Engineer in the routine in-house testing of medium voltage distribution transformers and switchgear to ensure that all products leaving the facility are evidenced as being compliant to the necessary design and performance standards.
This role would be suit either an experienced Electrical Test Technician or a recent Electrical Engineering Graduate who is looking to gain practical experience in the transformer and switchgear industry to complement their academic technical knowledge.
Main Duties
- Assisting in the preparation for and completion of routine testing of distribution transformers and 11kV electrical switchgear.
- Producing traceable and accurate test records.
- Conducting electrical testing of oil samples.
- Ensuring test equipment is suitably calibrated and maintained in a suitable condition.
- Co-ordinating the movement of product throughout the production facility.
- Undertaking routine inspection of incoming equipment and final inspection of outgoing assembled product.
To succeed in the role you will need some of the following qualifications and experience
Qualifications and Experience
- Recognised Electrical/Electronic qualification to a minimum level of HND.
- I.T. literacy and a recognition of the importance of diligence in the completion of testing processes and the accurate recording of test results.
- A mature approach to health and safety and the need to adopt strict working practices in respect of the hazards of high-voltage testing.
- A technical grounding in the design, manufacture and operation of distribution transformers and High Voltage switchgear.
- Effective communication skills both verbally and in writing.
- Strong multi-tasking and time-management skills.
