We are supporting the delivery of a major building and infrastructure project in North London and are seeking an experienced MEP Mechanical Supervisor to join the team. This is a large-scale, technically complex development currently in delivery phase, offering the opportunity to play a key role in a high-profile scheme.

The role sits within a global construction company with an established presence across Europe and other international markets, delivering large-scale, complex projects across infrastructure, sports halls, stadiums, residences, commercial, and specialist sectors. This position is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months.

The Role

We are seeking an experienced MEP Mechanical Supervisor to lead the mechanical delivery of a major construction project. Reporting to the MEP Manager, you will take ownership of all mechanical building services, ensuring they are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. This is a senior technical leadership role requiring strong coordination across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Mechanical Leadership & Delivery
    • Lead all mechanical building services (HVAC, BMS, ventilation/extraction, pipework, fire fighting plant room systems, etc.) from design through to commissioning and handover.
    • Ensure mechanical systems are delivered in line with programme, quality, and cost requirements.
    • Act as the technical authority for mechanical engineering across the project.
  • Design & Coordination
    • Review and manage mechanical design, specifications, and technical submissions.
    • Coordinate with electrical, plumbing, architectural, and structural teams to avoid clashes and ensure integration.
    • Support BIM coordination and resolve design conflicts proactively.
  • Site Delivery & Management
    • Oversee installation works on site, ensuring compliance with drawings, specifications, and standards.
    • Manage mechanical subcontractors and specialist suppliers.
    • Conduct site inspections, monitor progress, and ensure adherence to programme.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure full compliance with UK Health & Safety regulations, CDM requirements, and company policies.
    • Review and enforce method statements and risk assessments.
    • Promote a strong safety culture across all mechanical activities.
    • Highlight any safety concerns through appropriate reporting channels.
  • Quality, Testing & Commissioning
    • Lead mechanical testing, commissioning, and validation processes.
    • Ensure systems are fully operational and meet performance specifications.
    • Support smooth handover to the client, including documentation and O&M manuals.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Act as the key mechanical interface with clients, consultants, and internal teams.
    • Attend coordination meetings and provide technical input.
    • Build strong working relationships to support successful project delivery.
  • Reporting & Documentation
    • Ability to prepare essential reports including progress, risks, coordination issues, and technical observations.
    • Maintain records of RFIs, site observations, and technical documentation.

About You

Skills & Experience

  • Essential
    • Proven experience in a senior mechanical / MEP role on large-scale construction projects.
    • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical building services (HVAC, pipework, plant systems).
    • Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating multidisciplinary teams.
    • Solid understanding of UK construction standards, building regulations, and compliance.
    • Ability to manage programme, cost, and quality delivery simultaneously.
  • Desirable
    • Experience on major infrastructure or complex commercial developments.
    • Familiarity with BIM and digital construction tools.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Chartered Engineer status (CEng) or working towards registration with the Engineering Council.
  • SMSTS (Site Management Safety Training Scheme) certification.

Working Environment

Regular on-site presence required to support coordination, installation, and commissioning activities with some flexibility for hybrid working. Opportunity to work with international teams across the wider organisation in a fast-paced, technically complex project environment.
