We are now seeking a Quantity Surveyor to join the commercial team on this high-profile scheme. This is a large-scale, technically complex development currently in its delivery phase, offering an excellent opportunity to develop your commercial and procurement expertise within a structured and supportive environment. This position is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 24 months.
The Role
Reporting to the Senior Quantity Surveyor and Commercial Manager, you will support the procurement and commercial functions across the project lifecycle. You will play a key role in ensuring procurement activities, cost control processes, and supply chain coordination are delivered efficiently and in line with project and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Support procurement activities, including preparation of tender documentation, bid analysis, and subcontractor evaluation
- Assist in the preparation and administration of subcontract agreements in line with the project procurement strategy
- Support cost control processes, including tracking commitments, variations, and payment applications
- Maintain accurate commercial records, procurement trackers, and contract documentation
- Assist in supply chain coordination to ensure timely procurement aligned with project programme milestones
- Support compliance with contractual procedures, company commercial policies, and audit requirements
- Liaise with internal teams (construction, planning, and design) to support procurement and commercial decision-making
- Contribute to continuous improvement of procurement and commercial processes
About You
Experience
- 14 years experience in a Quantity Surveying or commercial role within the UK construction industry
- Exposure to procurement and subcontract management on building or infrastructure projects is desirable
Qualifications
- Degree (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or a related discipline
Skills & Knowledge
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail
- Good commercial awareness, particularly in procurement and supply chain processes
- Ability to manage data accurately and produce clear commercial reports
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines
- Effective communication skills and a professional, collaborative approach
Systems & Tools
- Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
- Experience with commercial or ERP systems (e.g. COINS, SAP, MS Axapta) is advantageous
- Familiarity with document management or procurement platforms (e.g. Autodesk Construction Cloud) is beneficial
