The Opportunity
We are working on behalf of a well-established, highly regulated manufacturing business in West Yorkshire that is investing heavily in its safety culture, compliance, and continuous improvement. As part of this journey, they are seeking an EHS Specialist to play a pivotal, hands-on role in driving site-wide environmental, health, and safety excellence.
This is an ideal opportunity for an ambitious EHS professional who enjoys being visible on the shop floor, influencing behaviour, leading improvement projects, and building strong relationships across production, maintenance, and leadership teams. The successful EHS Specialist will be a key driver of positive cultural change on site.
The Role
Reporting into the Site EHS Leader, the EHS Specialist will take ownership of key EHS systems and initiatives, ensuring legal compliance while actively improving safety culture and risk management across the site. You will be trusted to lead from the front, balancing compliance, coaching, and practical problem-solving in a fast-paced manufacturing environment, with the EHS Specialist acting as a visible and credible presence across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and maintain EHS management systems, including ISO 45001 & ISO 14001
- Lead incident, accident, and near-miss investigations with robust preventative actions
- Manage site risk assessments, COSHH approvals, and corrective action tracking
- Act as the key contact for specialist EHS contractors and external auditors
- Deliver engaging EHS inductions and hands-on training sessions
- Support and influence Safety Committees and Action Teams
- Lead risk reduction and safety improvement projects across the site
- Carry out internal audits and layered process audits (LPAs)
- Champion EHS culture, ensuring accountability at all levels
What We Are Looking For
- Minimum 2 years' experience in an EHS role within a manufacturing environment
- NEBOSH General Certificate (minimum), ideally working towards Diploma Level 6
- Strong working knowledge of ISO 45001 & ISO 14001
- Confident communicator who can engage, challenge, and influence at all levels
- Highly organised, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities
- Passionate about safety, continuous improvement, and career progression in EHS
