Majestic is the UK’s largest specialist wine retailer, operating a network of stores nationwide. Founded in , the company recently passed back into private ownership following the acquisition of Fortress Investment Group and has undergone an ambitious transformation. The results are now visible, with record market share growth, a new product range, a new website, and six new stores, with plans for further expansion over the next five years. The range includes over 1,000 wines, spirits, and beers both online and in-store. Our key strength is our knowledgeable, friendly staff, many of whom are WSET-trained, providing excellent service across all channels.
The Role
As a Majestic Trainee Manager, you will undertake a 12-month development program that provides comprehensive experience in operational, service, and leadership standards, preparing you for a future Store Manager role. You will follow a structured training pathway with support from your Store Manager to set you up for success.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the store team to deliver outstanding customer service and create an exceptional shopping experience.
- Drive store performance by maximizing sales opportunities and improving KPIs.
- Provide market-leading customer service to foster loyalty and repeat business.
- Offer personalized VIP concierge service, including product updates and tastings.
- Promote products passionately through tastings and storytelling, managing tasting events and counters.
- Enhance your wine knowledge to support your WSET qualifications and sales confidence.
- Maintain the store\’s appearance and ensure operational standards are met internally and externally.
- Participate in daily operational tasks such as stock delivery, merchandising, and customer outreach to boost sales.
- Identify opportunities for operational improvements.
- Ensure compliance with internal policies, safety, and legal requirements.
- Take ownership of personal development, utilizing available resources and support.
- Model Majestic’s Ways of Working and support junior team members, providing feedback to your Store Manager.
Knowledge & Skills Required
- Experience in fast-paced retail or hospitality environments, working as part of a team.
- Ability to deliver exceptional customer service.
- Strong prioritization and problem-solving skills under pressure.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team.
- Positive attitude with a commitment to resolving issues.
- Adaptability and resilience to changing business needs.
- Excellent communication and time management skills.
- Passion for wine and willingness to learn for WSET Level 2 & 3 qualifications.
- Full UK/EU/EEA driving license for at least 12 months with no more than 6 penalty points.
