As we continue to grow, we are looking for talented individuals to join our team and contribute to our success. At Paul Rhodes Bakery, we believe in nurturing talent.
Paul Rhodes Bakery is seeking an experienced Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to take ownership of all engineering and maintenance activity across our London bakery operations. This is a standalone, multidisciplinary role, acting as the central point of control for mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and general hands-on maintenance. You will be supported by an existing handyman and electrician, but accountability for engineering standards, priorities, and performance will sit firmly with you.
This role is not purely reactive. While rapid response to breakdowns is essential, the successful candidate will play a key role in shifting the business towards a proactive, preventative maintenance culture, aligned with the operational demands of food production. You will report directly to the Head of Production and sit as part of the wider management team.

- Understand and monitor equipment performance metrics, including overall equipment effectiveness
- Own and maintain the on-site workshop to a high standard

- Support installation, commissioning, and modification of new or upgraded equipment
- Ensure all work complies with food safety, health & safety, and statutory requirements
- Maintain clear communication with the Head of Production and wider management team on site issues and risks
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer within food manufacturing, bakery, or FMCG environments
- Bakery experience is highly desirable; strong food production experience is essential
- Minimum 2+ years' experience in a multi-skilled maintenance engineering role

- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding capability
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and pneumatic drawings
- Experience with preventative and reactive maintenance methodologies
- Familiarity with maintenance management systems
- Strong troubleshooting capability on electrical equipment
- Knowledge of HACCP principles and food safety requirements
