Location: Field Based Within 1 Hour of Welwyn Garden City
We are working with a well-established specialist engineering business that provides conveyor belting, mechanical maintenance and installation services to customers across a wide range of industries throughout the UK. Due to continued growth, the business is looking to recruit a Belt / Mechanical Fitter to join its field service team. This is an excellent opportunity for either an experienced Mechanical Fitter or a junior engineer looking to develop their career within a specialist engineering sector. Full training will be provided, making this an ideal opportunity for candidates from mechanical backgrounds such as vehicle mechanics, plant mechanics, maintenance engineers or mechanical fitters who are looking for a varied field-based role.
No two days are the same. You will be travelling to customer sites across the UK carrying out conveyor belt fitting, mechanical maintenance, repairs and installations, working as part of a supportive and experienced engineering team.
Responsibilities:
- Carry out conveyor belt installation, maintenance and repair work on customer sites
- Support planned maintenance and breakdown activities
- Assist with mechanical fitting and installation projects across the UK
- Inspect equipment and identify wear, damage or potential failures
- Work safely and professionally on customer sites
- Complete job reports and site documentation
- Participate in the on-call rota for evenings and weekends
Qualifications:
- Mechanical aptitude and practical hands-on engineering skills
- Level 2 Mechanical qualification or equivalent
- Experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Engineer, Vehicle Technician, Car Mechanic, Plant Fitter or similar
- Willingness to travel and work nationwide
- Flexible approach to working hours
- Good communication and customer-facing skills
- Full UK Driving Licence essential
Junior candidates with the right attitude and mechanical background are encouraged to apply as full training will be provided.
