Location; Stoke on Trent We are working with an established manufacturing and distribution business based in Woore. The site operates a fast-paced warehouse environment, with a strong focus on efficient stock control, product quality and team performance. Due to an internal promotion, an opportunity has arisen for a Stores Assistant to join the warehouse team. Working Monday to Friday, 8am to 4.30pm (40 hours per week), you will play a key role in the smooth flow of stock and materials on site, including receiving, checking, picking and preparing orders for despatch. The role can be physically demanding given the nature of the products handled, so a hands-on approach is important. This role would suit a warehouse or stores professional with previous manufacturing or distribution experience, who is methodical, safety-conscious and enjoys working as part of a close-knit team. Around a third of the current workforce have been with the business for 10+ years, making this a genuinely stable, long-term opportunity for the right person. Responsibilities of a Stores Assistant: Receiving, checking and putting away incoming stock and materials Picking, packing and preparing orders for despatch Maintaining accurate stock records using WMS and hand-held scanning devices Safe operation of warehouse equipment, including FLT/Reach truck where certified Working closely with production and despatch teams to ensure a smooth stock flow Maintaining a clean, organised and safety-compliant stores environment Supporting the wider warehouse team during busy periods Skills & Qualifications of a Stores Assistant: Previous experience within a manufacturing or distribution warehouse environment Counterbalance and/or Reach Truck licence desirable Experience using WMS systems and hand-held scanning devices beneficial Team player who is self-motivated, methodical and safety-conscious Own transport essential due to site location; role subject to a DBS check Benefits of a Stores Assistant: Starting rate of £12.71 per hour, 40 hours per week (8am - 4.30pm) Weekly paid contract 30 days holiday (including statutory), rising to 34 after one year's service Auto-enrolment pension, with employer-funded contribution after 3 years' service Annual business performance related bonus Private healthcare, critical illness and death in service cover after a qualifying period Full product training and genuine progression - all vacancies advertised internally first If you feel this Stores Assistant role is right for you, please contact Grace at Maintech Recruitment for more information or click apply.
