Working as part of a small, dedicated engineering team within a family-run business, you’ll take ownership of day-to-day engineering activities — from responding to breakdowns and supporting production changeovers, to carrying out preventative maintenance and driving improvements across the site. You will also be involved in executing projects which are consistently ongoing as the site continues to develop to stay abreast of market requirements. This is a hands-on, varied role where you’ll combine mechanical and electrical fault-finding skills with a proactive and curious mindset to support both short-term production targets and long-term reliability goals.

The role involves:

  • Responding promptly to breakdowns and restoring equipment to full operation safely and efficiently.
  • Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) to schedule.
  • Identifying and acting on opportunities to improve machine performance and reliability.
  • Completing thorough shift reports, ensuring accurate communication of issues and corrective actions.
  • Closing the loop on recurring faults or maintenance concerns.
  • Supporting production teams with complex changeovers, troubleshooting, and coaching of operators.
  • Assisting in the creation and continual improvement of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Undertaking fault-finding and repair work across mechanical, electrical, and PLC systems.
  • Working alongside the Lead Engineer on site improvement and installation projects.
  • Planning and preparing spares and tooling required for extended maintenance periods.
  • Supporting installation, commissioning, and modification of mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Contributing ideas and technical input to reliability, efficiency, and safety projects.

Skills and Qualifications required:

  • Be apprentice trained and have excellent knowledge of both mechanical and electrical maintenance.
  • Previous experience within an FMCG environment would be advantageous.
  • Electrical and Mechanical skills including: 3-phase motors, drives, control and fault-finding on PLCs.
  • Ability to read from schematics.

The Benefits include:

  • Monday – Friday Basic Salary £45,000 - £49,000 depending on experience.
  • 3 shifts: 6am-2pm / 10am-6pm / 2pm-10pm.
