We are working with a leading heavy industrial manufacturing business operating within the advanced materials and glass production sector, supplying high-performance products into construction, automotive and specialist engineering markets. The site is a large-scale, highly automated production facility with a strong engineering presence and significant investment in plant reliability and continuous improvement.
The engineering team consists of around 50 engineers working across both rotating shift patterns and weekday day shifts. The structure is highly developed, with clear separation between mechanical and electrical responsibilities, allowing engineers to specialise and develop deep technical expertise.
We are currently recruiting for Electrical Maintenance Engineers to join the weekday days team, focusing purely on electrical breakdown response, planned maintenance and continuous improvement activities across a wide range of automated and process equipment. Responsibilities of a maintenance engineer:- Carry out planned preventative maintenance on automated and process manufacturing equipment
- Respond to electrical breakdowns quickly to minimise downtime
- Diagnose and repair faults on conveyors, process control systems and automation equipment
- Work with temperature control, stacking systems and production machinery
- Support modifications and improvements to plant and equipment
- Carry out root cause analysis and contribute to continuous improvement activities
- Ensure compliance with health and safety procedures at all times
- Work collaboratively with engineering and production teams to improve reliability
- NVQ Level 3 Electrical Engineering (or equivalent apprenticeship)
- Strong electrical fault-finding experience in an industrial environment
- Experience with PLCs, SCADA and HMI systems
- Understanding of automated production or heavy industrial equipment (desirable)
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work in a structured engineering team environment
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Days-based role: Monday to Friday, 07:45 – 16:00
- Salary: £48,000
- 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (rising to 27 days with service)
- Up to 8% employer pension contribution
- Annual bonus scheme (performance dependent, not guaranteed)
