Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Suez Shift Location; Tamworth We are working with a well-established plastics manufacturing business in Tamworth that is in the middle of a £6 million investment programme. The site is moving away from a reactive, firefighting approach to maintenance and building a proactive, continuous improvement culture, with new equipment and several refurbishment projects planned over the next 12 months. This is a great opportunity for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer who wants a £54,000 salary, a genuine work-life balance and the chance to shape how engineering is done on site. These are three brand-new positions, created to strengthen the existing engineering team and take it to 14. You will work a Suez shift pattern of 5 on, 5 off, rotating between 12-hour days and nights, which means you work roughly half the days in the year and get a long Friday-to-Sunday weekend plus one full weekend off every month. Day to day you will be looking after the machinery and facilities across the plant, with a growing emphasis on planned maintenance and improvement, alongside hands-on involvement in the installation of new equipment and the refurbishment projects coming through. This will suit a multi-skilled engineer from a manufacturing or FMCG background who wants to move away from constant breakdowns and into a role where their ideas are heard and acted on. We are happy to talk to both electrically and mechanically biased engineers. With a change in shift pattern, new investment and a business that has a track record of funding further qualifications for its engineers, it is a great time to join. Responsibilities of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer: Carry out planned and reactive maintenance across production machinery and site facilities to keep the plant running safely and efficiently Help drive the shift from reactive maintenance to a proactive, continuous improvement approach Assist with the installation and commissioning of new equipment and site refurbishment projects Work as part of a 14-strong engineering team to meet agreed departmental objectives Follow permits to work, safe systems of work and risk assessments at all times Support compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality policies and help maintain a strong safety culture across the site Maintain housekeeping standards within your areas of responsibility Skills & Qualifications of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer: Recognised engineering qualification at Level 3 or above (NVQ, City & Guilds, ONC or equivalent) Multi-skilled engineer with strong electrical skills, either electrically or mechanically biased Experience maintaining machinery in a manufacturing environment Background in FMCG, plastics or high-volume manufacturing is desirable A proactive approach and an interest in continuous improvement Benefits of a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer: Basic salary of £55,000 per year Suez shift pattern – 5 on, 5 off, 12-hour days and nights, meaning you work roughly half the days in the year One long weekend (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) and one full weekend off every month 22 days holiday plus bank holidays, rising by one day for each year of service up to 25 days Excellent pension scheme Genuine career progression, with enhanced qualifications paid for and fully supported by the business Free onsite parking If you feel this Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer role is right for you, please contact Becky Prince at Maintech Recruitment on (phone number removed) for more information or click apply.
