We are working with a leading pharmaceutical distribution business that plays a critical role in the UK healthcare supply chain. Operating a highly automated distribution centre, the site processes and distributes essential medicines and healthcare products nationwide, relying on advanced automation technology to maintain exceptional service levels.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a Maintenance Engineer to join a large, experienced engineering team where training, development and progression are genuinely encouraged. Whether you're electrically biased, mechanically biased or developing your multi-skilled capability, you'll be supported by experienced engineers and exposed to industry-leading automation systems. You'll gain experience working on advanced warehouse automation, materials handling equipment and control systems within a structured engineering environment where knowledge sharing and continuous development are part of the culture.

Responsibilities of a Maintenance Engineer:

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance across automated warehouse and distribution systems
  • Respond to equipment breakdowns and faults to minimise operational downtime
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults across automated materials handling equipment
  • Maintain and support advanced automation systems including conveyors, sortation equipment and automated storage systems
  • Complete maintenance records accurately using CMMS systems
  • Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement activities
  • Work closely with operations teams to maximise equipment availability and reliability
  • Participate in planned maintenance shutdowns and engineering improvement projects

Skills & Qualifications of a Maintenance Engineer:

  • NVQ Level 3, apprenticeship or equivalent engineering qualification
  • Electrical or Mechanical maintenance background
  • Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, warehousing or automated environments
  • Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
  • Experience using CMMS systems desirable
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn new technologies
  • Strong communication and team-working skills
  • Mechanically biased engineers looking to develop their electrical and automation knowledge are encouraged to apply.
