We are working with a leading global food manufacturing business operating within a high-volume FMCG production environment, supplying some of the UK’s best-known snack brands. The site is a highly automated manufacturing facility with a strong focus on operational excellence, engineering reliability and continuous improvement.
This is a great opportunity for a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established engineering team working a continental 4 on 4 off shift pattern (2 days / 2 nights). You will be responsible for maintaining and improving high-speed production and packaging equipment, ensuring maximum uptime in a fast-paced automated manufacturing environment. The engineering team plays a critical role in plant performance, with a proactive maintenance culture focused on reliability, root cause analysis and continuous improvement rather than purely reactive maintenance. This role would suit a Maintenance Engineer from a food manufacturing, FMCG or high‑speed automated production environment, who enjoys fault finding, continuous improvement and working within a structured engineering culture.
Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative and reactive maintenance across high-speed manufacturing and packaging equipment
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise production downtime
- Support continuous improvement activities using structured problem‑solving methodologies
- Lead and contribute to root cause analysis investigations to eliminate repeat failures
- Carry out pre‑ and post‑maintenance quality checks to ensure equipment performance
- Support lubrication planning, execution and continuous improvement of maintenance standards
- Train and support autonomous maintenance teams on equipment care, fault recognition and basic maintenance routines
- Maintain accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems
- Support strong 5S standards and site engineering best practice
- Work closely with production and leadership teams to improve reliability and performance
Skills & Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering apprenticeship
- Recognised engineering qualification (Electrical, Mechanical or Multi‑Skilled)
- Strong electro‑mechanical fault‑finding capability
- Experience within FMCG, food manufacturing or fast‑paced automated production environments
- Experience using CMMS systems
- Understanding of SCADA systems (desirable)
- Strong technical problem‑solving and diagnostic skills
- Strong communication and team‑working skills
- Proactive ownership of safety, quality and engineering performance
