We are looking for a network engineer for this manufacturing client based in Sandiacre, working a fixed term contract of 6 months. The Network Engineer is responsible for implementing and maintaining functional network infrastructure and security, providing first and second level technical support to all internal employees. The position monitors, troubleshoots, and diagnoses network performance, confidentiality, integrity and availability. The role is based on the client's site 5 days per week. You will need to be proficient using Cisco; processes are in place you will just need to maintain and make improvements.
The role as a network engineer includes:
- Engineering projects to address and resolve business needs
- Design and deploy functional networks (LAN, WLAN, WAN)
- Configure and install software, servers, routers and other network devices
- Monitor network performance and integrity
- Resolve issues tiers of support have escalated by troubleshooting cloud and local infrastructure
- Automate tasks and monitor their effectiveness
- Mentor team members on technical issues
- Create, oversee and test security measures (e.g. access authentication and disaster recovery)
- Maintain complete technical documentation
- Suggest improvements to network performance, capacity and scalability
Skills and Experience required for this network engineer's role:
- 5+ years IT related work experience
- Strong networking background with a focus on Cisco routers and switches hardware
- Extensive knowledge and experience of Core Routing and Switching design, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Routing protocols OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, ISIS
- Multicast PIM Sparse/Dense, MSDP, NAT
- Experience with: LiveNX, Solarwinds, InfoBlox, Cisco ISE, Cisco DNA, Linux, Python/Automation and ServiceNow
- Excellent understanding of VPN - site to site, client, IPSEC (including the protocol suite), IKE, DMVPN, tunnel modes, Tunnels between ASAs, Routers
- Knowledge and experience of Network Security, including the design, configuration, and tuning of Cisco and Palo Alto appliances
- Perform network modeling, analysis, and planning
- MPLS traffic engineering design, configuration, and troubleshooting
- LDP, TDP, RSVP Label distribution
- MPBGP-VPNv4, Multi-VRF and VRF-Lite
- Extensive knowledge of Datacenter design utilizing the Nexus product line
- Cisco Application Centric Networking
- Strong knowledge of the Cisco ASR 9000 product line
