Due to continued investment in both automation and engineering, the business is looking to recruit a Multi‑Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join its well‑established engineering team at its Romford site. This is an excellent opportunity for an engineer who wants to work alongside experienced maintenance professionals in a structured environment where training, mentoring and continuous development are genuinely part of the culture. Whether you're electrically biased or mechanically biased and looking to broaden your skills, you'll be given the support to develop your technical knowledge on advanced automated warehouse systems. Rather than spending every shift firefighting breakdowns, you'll become part of a proactive engineering team focused on preventative maintenance, reliability improvements and continuous improvement projects.
Responsibilities of a Maintenance Engineer:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across automated warehouse and materials handling systems
- Respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns to minimise downtime
- Fault find across conveyors, automated storage systems and warehouse automation equipment
- Maintain and repair site automation and materials handling equipment
- Complete maintenance activities using the site's CMMS system
- Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement projects
- Work closely with operations to maximise equipment reliability and performance, assisting with planned shutdowns and upgrades
Skills & Qualifications of a Maintenance Engineer:
- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent engineering qualification, apprentice‑trained
- Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, warehousing or automated environments
- Strong electrical or mechanical fault‑finding skills
- Mechanically biased engineers looking to develop electrical skills, or electrical engineers wanting to expand their automation knowledge, are encouraged to apply
- CMMS experience desirable, with a positive attitude and strong communication and team‑working skills
