Responsibilities of a Maintenance Engineer
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across high-speed automated production and packaging equipment
- Respond to electrical and mechanical breakdowns, minimising downtime and supporting production targets
- Diagnose faults across electrical control systems, motors, drives, sensors and automated machinery
- Support root cause analysis activities to eliminate repeat failures
- Work closely with production teams to improve equipment performance and reliability
- Participate in continuous improvement and reliability projects across the site
- Maintain accurate maintenance records through the CMMS system
- Ensure all maintenance activities are completed safely and in line with site standards
Skills & Qualifications of a Maintenance Engineer
- Apprentice-trained engineer
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent engineering qualification
- Electrically biased with strong fault-finding ability
- Experience within manufacturing, FMCG, logistics, automated warehousing or production environments
- Exposure to PLC fault finding, SCADA systems or automation equipment would be advantageous
- Positive attitude and willingness to learn and develop
- Strong communication and team-working skills
Engineers from outside of food manufacturing are encouraged to apply if they have experience maintaining automated production equipment.
