CNC setter operator in Coventry

Coventry Full-Time On-site
M

Location; Coventry

We are working with a well-established, family-run precision engineering business that has been trading for over 50 years. The company is consistently busy, producing prototype and one-off components for the defence, aerospace and automotive sectors.

We are looking for a CNC Operator / Programmer to join a small, highly skilled team. You will be programming, setting and running both CNC lathes and mills, moving between turning and milling as the work demands, and producing complex, tight-tolerance parts from drawings.

This role would suit a hands-on CNC engineer from a jobbing, toolroom or prototype background who loves a challenge and takes real pride in the parts they make. No two days are the same, and as part of a close-knit, friendly family business you will be a valued member of the team.

Responsibilities of a CNC Operator / Programmer:

  • Program, set and operate CNC lathes and milling machines (Haas)
  • Produce prototype and low-volume, high-precision components, including castings work
  • Work from engineering drawings to tight tolerances
  • Problem-solve with the floor manager and the wider team to get jobs right first time

Skills & Qualifications of a CNC Operator / Programmer:

  • Hands-on CNC programming, setting and operating experience on both turning and milling
  • A background in jobbing, toolroom, prototype or varied work, rather than high-volume production
  • A genuine passion for machining and enjoyment in working things out for yourself
  • A team player who will fit into a close-knit, friendly family business
  • Experience in defence, aerospace or automotive, or on Haas or Mazak controls, would be a bonus but isn’t essential

Benefits of a CNC Operator / Programmer:

  • £19 – £20 per hour depending on experience
  • Monday – Thursday 07:30 – 16:30, Friday 07:30 – 12:30
  • Paid overtime, including early weekday starts and Saturday mornings
  • Annual pay rise
  • Year-end bonus and Christmas bonus
  • A secure, long-term, permanent position with a company that’s been going strong for over 50 years

The interview process is a face-to-face interview followed by a half-day practical trial on the shop floor.
