Mainstay Recruitment are currently looking for a Fire Suppression / Sprinkler Engineer for our client based in the London area, primarily working in the North East area of the city in a mobile role. This will involve undertaking work spanning installation, maintenance and life safety systems including fire suppression.
Role Summary
We are seeking an experienced Fire Suppression / Sprinkler Engineer to join our client’s team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing and/or maintaining domestic and commercial sprinkler systems. You should be competent in servicing wet and dry risers, and experienced in remedial works. Where needed, some additional training or courses may be provided, especially for dry/wet riser tasks.
In this role you will carry out planned and reactive maintenance and servicing of sprinkler and riser systems, carry out flow and signal tests, service dry and wet risers, and complete remedial repairs across client sites.
Key Responsibilities
- Service and maintain commercial and domestic sprinkler systems (wet, dry and other types) in line with relevant standards.
- Perform flow-switch servicing (flows & signals), system tests, pressure and flow checks, and functional testing of sprinkler sets.
- Service dry and wet risers, including inspection, maintenance, and remedial works.
- Diagnose faults or failures in sprinkler and riser systems; carry out remedial repairs or upgrades as needed.
- Produce detailed service reports, compliance documentation, and recommendations for remedial or upgrade works.
- Work with clients, site managers, and other trades to ensure safe and compliant installations and maintenance, including adherence to health & safety protocols and fire safety regulations.
- Attend emergency call-outs and reactive maintenance as required.
Person Specification / Required Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Sprinkler Engineer or similar role within the fire protection / suppression industry (installation and/or maintenance).
- In-depth knowledge of sprinkler systems (wet, dry, pre-action, deluge etc.) and riser systems; comfort with servicing, testing, maintenance and remedial works.
- Strong fault-finding, mechanical and hydraulic understanding, with ability to diagnose and rectify system issues.
- Familiarity with relevant British / EN fire safety standards (e.g. BS EN 12845, BS 9251 or equivalent) and compliance expectations.
- Full, clean UK driving licence (field-based work across multiple sites likely).
- Self-motivated, reliable, with strong attention to detail and good communication skills. Comfortable working independently and as part of a team across multiple client sites.
- Flexibility to respond to reactive maintenance and emergency call-outs when required.
Desirable (but not essential):
- Relevant fire protection / sprinkler system certification or accreditation (e.g. LPCB, recognised fire-protection qualification, or equivalent).
- Experience interpreting system schematics or blueprints / working with technical drawings.
- Prior experience working across both commercial and residential buildings.
