We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our clients team. This role is primarily based at RAF Lakenheath, with occasional travel to other local RAF Bases, as and when needed. You will be responsible for commercial oil boilers, working both independently and as part of a team. The position involves a mix of planned maintenance and reactive repairs, ensuring mission-critical assets are kept operational. Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform independent installations, inspections, and maintenance on medium- to high-temperature oil boilers.
  • Troubleshoot and repair heating systems, including conducting fault tests, strip-downs, and necessary cleaning.
  • Handle emergency repairs and participate in an on-call rota for mission-critical systems outside of core hours.
  • Use a PDA and Maximo to schedule and complete maintenance tasks across multiple facilities.
  • Ensure all tasks are completed on time and comply with relevant legislation and site requirements.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation for all maintenance and repair activities.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Essential: City & Guilds Plumbing Apprenticeship Level 2 (Mechanical) or City & Guilds Level 3 (Mechanical) with unvented qualification.
  • BOAS (Boiler Operation Accreditation Scheme) certification.
  • OFTAC qualification for servicing high-temperature oil boilers.
  • Experience with oil-fired appliances over 45kW and pressure systems.
  • Strong independent working and time management skills.
  • Ability to pass SC Clearance.
  • Desirable: Experience in MOD or construction/property maintenance environments.
  • Familiarity with Maximo for task scheduling and reporting.
