We are proud to be recruiting on behalf of a leading facilities management provider for a reliable and experienced Commercial Plumber to be based at Aberdeen University. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established team delivering planned and reactive maintenance across a prestigious educational estate. The successful candidate will demonstrate solid experience in commercial plumbing, a proactive attitude, and a sound understanding of compliance, health and safety, and asset maintenance. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Undertake installation, maintenance, and repair of commercial plumbing systems including sanitary-ware, drainage, hot and cold-water services, and associated pipework.
- Carry out routine inspections and fault-finding, diagnosing issues and implementing appropriate solutions to minimise downtime.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with current water regulations, building standards, and internal compliance procedures.
- Maintain accurate records of all maintenance activities including completed works, materials used, and time spent.
- Provide technical support and guidance where required and liaise with the wider facilities and engineering teams to support overall service delivery.
- Supervise subcontractors on site, ensuring quality of workmanship, adherence to health and safety procedures, and timely completion of work.
- Maintain high standards of customer service, ensuring effective communication with staff, students, and other site users.
Essential Skills and Experience
- Demonstrable experience in a commercial plumbing or facilities maintenance role.
- Recognised plumbing qualifications such as City & Guilds Level 2 or 3 in Plumbing and Heating (C&G 6035, 6129 or equivalent).
- Full UK driving licence (clean) essential due to the nature of the role.
- Good working knowledge of health and safety regulations applicable to plumbing works.
- Familiarity with planned maintenance systems and asset management practices.
- Basic IT literacy, including the ability to use Microsoft Excel and Word for record-keeping and job reporting.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships with clients, colleagues, and contractors.
- Gas Safe registration (advantageous, but not essential).
