Location: RAF Lakenheath (covering Lakenheath, Mildenhall, and Feltwell)
Working Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday + 1 in 6/7 Rota On- Call with some Weekend Work
Job Type: Full-Time, Permanent
Salary: £42,000 £44,000 (dependent on experience; regular Overtime available) + Company Van and Fuel Card
About the Role
Mainstay Recruitment are seeking a skilled and reliable Commercial Heating Engineer to join our clients team delivering essential maintenance and repair services across key RAF sites in the region. This is an opportunity to work in a dynamic and impactful environment, where no two days are the same.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and repair commercial heating systems, including oil and LPG/gas boilers.
Deliver both planned preventative maintenance and responsive repairs to meet service level agreements.
Self-schedule work using a tablet-based system.
Ensure assets are compliant, energy-efficient, and functioning within design specifications.
Supervise contractors and subcontractors while ensuring strict adherence to health and safety standards.
Maintain clean, safe, and functional plant rooms and technical spaces.
Work collaboratively with colleagues and site personnel to deliver a high standard of service.
About You
You will be a qualified and experienced engineer with a professional, proactive attitude. You will also need:
A recognised qualification in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (e.g., HNC, ONC, City & Guilds).
Proven experience with commercial heating systems.
Gas Safe registration (essential).
Experience and qualifications in LPG gas systems (highly desirable).
Knowledge of HVAC systems, Building Management Systems, and safe electrical isolation (desirable).
Ability to read and interpret technical schematics.
Competency in using digital systems to record and manage work.
Strong communication skills and a team-focused approach. xwzovoh
Security clearance: You must be eligible to obtain DBS and SC clearance.
