Mainstay Recruitment are recruiting for an exciting opportunity for an experienced Technical Services Manager (Electrical) to take on a key leadership role within a high-profile, fast-paced engineering environment supporting critical UK Defence operations overseas. Based at RAF Lakenheath, with responsibility for RAF Feltwell, this role offers the chance to contribute directly to the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of essential infrastructure supporting the US Visiting Forces community. About the Role
Reporting to the Core Lead / Site Manager, you will be a key member of the Core Management Team, leading a team of Electrical Maintenance Engineers delivering both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive works across a complex and diverse estate. You will be responsible for driving operational excellence, ensuring compliance with statutory and contractual requirements, and maintaining the highest safety standards, while continuously improving maintenance delivery.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading and developing a team of electrical engineers, ensuring high-quality PPM and reactive maintenance delivery
- Providing technical expertise across electrical systems, plant, and associated infrastructure
- Managing contractor performance, ensuring adherence to KPIs, quality standards, and contractual obligations
- Supporting the development and implementation of maintenance strategies and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensuring full compliance with statutory regulations and health & safety legislation
- Managing RAMS, risk assessments, method statements, and safe systems of work
- Acting as Duty Holder, Authorised Person, Responsible Person, or Competent Person where required
- Overseeing CAFM systems, ensuring accurate records, reporting, and compliance
- Participating in an on-call rota to support operational and emergency requirements
- Promoting a strong safety-first culture aligned with JSP 375 standards
- Mentoring and developing apprentices and team members
- Collaborating with military stakeholders, estate representatives, and supply chain partners to ensure high-quality service delivery
About You
You will be an experienced electrical professional with strong leadership skills and a proven background in maintenance or contractor management within a complex or highly regulated environment.
- 18th Edition Electrical qualification
- Strong understanding of EICR processes and electrical compliance
- Experience managing teams and/or contractors in an operational environment
- Knowledge of health and safety legislation, including COSHH and RIDDOR
- Full UK driving licence
- Ability to obtain Security Clearance (SC)
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills
Desirable:
- Experience within MOD, defence, or other secure environments
- Knowledge of lightning protection and cathodic protection systems
- First Aid and/or additional health & safety qualifications
- Membership of a relevant professional body
