The Radiation Therapist role is responsible for monitoring and calibrating machine functions, instructing students, and shielding and positioning patients as prescribed in the treatment plan.

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs):

  • Education: Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, physics, chemistry, radiation safety, radiation therapy procedures, techniques, equipment, and safety precautions, generally acquired through an approved 2-year program in Radiation Therapy Technology.
  • License/Certifications: Completion of an accredited Radiation Therapy program and current applicable state license as a Radiation Therapist through the ARRT.
  • Experience: Proficiency in performing radiation therapy treatments, generally acquired through on-the-job training and experience.
