Description Nursing Req #: 25739 Clinical Nurse (RN) β Neurosurgical/Trauma Unit (R6) This is a bargaining unit position Job Posting Date: 3/11/2025 Sign-on Bonus For a limited time, MaineHealth is offering up to $10,000 sign-on bonus for all eligible experienced Registered Nurses with 1-2 years of experience, and $20,000 for those with more than 2 years of experience! * Eligible candidates are hired (offer accepted) into a Full or Part-time RN position. Bonus amount is prorated for Part-time hires; per diem hires are ineligible. * Current MaineHealth employee members are ineligible; former members are ineligible until more than 6 months of separation from employment. Unit Description The R6 is a dynamic 24-bed neurosurgical/trauma unit with an embedded 9-bed neuro-focused Intermediate Care Unit (IMC). Bean 2 is a fast-paced 12-bed Total Joint Center. This position offers an opportunity to care for a diverse patient population in a supportive, collaborative environment. Patient Populations R6: Adults and older adolescents with neurological and orthopedic conditions, including head injuries, strokes, brain tumors, seizures, multi-trauma, and neurosurgical needs. Requires assessment and critical thinking skills for patients with multi-system issues. Bean 2: Adults post-joint replacement surgeries, serving as the Joint Center for our accredited joint replacement program. Focus on care coordination for timely and safe discharges, with high patient satisfaction scores. Work Environment A challenging yet rewarding environment emphasizing teamwork, communication, a positive attitude, and proactive care. As a teaching unit, it welcomes new graduate RNs and learners. Staff work closely to meet patient needs and uphold high standards of care. Shift Details This is a full-time night shift position, consisting of 3, 12-hour shifts per week. Position Summary The Clinical Nurse supports Maine Medical Center\βs mission by demonstrating excellence, competence, collaboration, innovation, respect, patient-centered care, community commitment, and accountability. Responsibilities include assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation, documentation, and evaluation of nursing care, across inpatient, outpatient, ambulatory, and community settings. Minimum Requirements (KSAs) Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. Must enroll in a BSN program within 1 year of hire and complete within 5 years. Evidence of 10 hours of ongoing education annually. License/Certifications: Current Maine RN license. Relevant specialty certification preferred. Experience: At least 1 year of RN work experience. Basic knowledge of nursing practices, with neuro or telemetry experience preferred. IMC experience strongly preferred. Effective interpersonal and communication skills. Analytical skills to identify patient condition changes and initiate appropriate actions. Ability to handle crisis situations effectively. Compassionate nursing practice promoting a healing environment. Technical skills to care for diverse patient populations on the unit.
