About the Role

Reporting to the Depot Manager, you’ll support the day-to-day running of a busy food distribution warehouse. You’ll lead a team of staff and volunteers, ensuring operations run safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. From coordinating daily activities to maintaining food safety compliance, you’ll be central to ensuring surplus food reaches the communities that need it most.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Team Leadership & Support
    • Lead, motivate, and support a diverse team of staff and volunteers
    • Allocate tasks and deliver daily briefings
    • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive working environment
  • Warehouse Operations
    • Oversee goods-in processes and manage incoming food donations
    • Ensure accurate sorting, storage, and stock rotation
    • Coordinate picking and dispatch to community partners
    • Stay hands-on to keep operations running smoothly
  • Food Safety & Compliance
    • Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety
    • Monitor temperature control and ensure cold chain integrity
    • Promote safe working practices and report any issues promptly
  • Problem Solving & Communication
    • Respond to operational challenges with practical solutions
    • Support process improvements and new initiatives
    • Communicate effectively with teams, drivers, and partners

What We’re Looking For

  • Experience in a warehouse, logistics, or food distribution environment
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams (including volunteers)
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Calm, adaptable, and solutions-focused approach
  • Confident communicator with a collaborative mindset
  • A genuine passion for community impact and sustainability

Working Pattern

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 5 days out of 7 (including occasional Sundays)
  • Shifts between 07:00 – 18:00 (7.5 hours per day + 1 hour unpaid lunch)
