Maine State CU is hiring a Mortgage Loan Officer in Belfast. We’re growing and this is your chance to be part of something exciting! Our new Belfast location is opening its doors in June and we’re looking for a motivated, community‑focused Mortgage Loan Officer to help us build strong local relationships and guide homebuyers through one of life’s most important milestones.

As one of the first team members in our Belfast branch, which will serve the mid‑coast region, you’ll have the unique opportunity to shape the way we serve the community, grow your local presence, and make a meaningful impact on the homeownership journey for families across the region.

In the Mortgage Loan Officer role, you will actively develop new residential mortgage business by promoting and selling the Credit Union’s mortgage products to achieve established production goals. You will be responsible for originating, underwriting, approving, and closing loans within your lending authority, with a primary focus on generating high‑quality mortgage loan volume.

Qualifications:

  • The ideal candidate brings 3–6 years of experience in mortgage and consumer lending, with a strong understanding of open‑end and closed‑end products; secondary market guidelines; and all major lending regulations including SAFE Act, ECOA, FCRA, TRID, QM, and ATR.
  • You excel at relationship building, cross‑selling, and clear communication, and you are highly proficient with lending software and digital tools.
  • Experience with Encompass LOS is a strong plus!
  • This role requires a motivated, sales‑driven professional with relevant education or specialized training, strong interpersonal skills, and active registration as a Mortgage Loan Originator (MLO) with the NMLS.
