Home to the Daily Mail, The Mail on Sunday, Metro, MailOnline, and a growing portfolio of digital brands, Mail Metro Media reaches over 28 million unique users every month in the UK alone, and more than 80 million globally. As the commercial arm of DMG Media, Mail Metro Media connects advertisers with one of the largest and most engaged audiences in British media.

With a legacy of award-winning journalism and innovative digital operation, the business is at the forefront of the evolving publishing and advertising landscape; from programmatic and data-driven trading to high-impact premium formats and brand partnerships. Our programmatic team plays a critical role in maximising revenue across our owned-and-operated properties and sits at the intersection of technology, data, and commercial strategy. This is an exciting opportunity to join a team that operates at the centre of one of the UK’s leading digital publishing businesses.

About the Role

We are looking for a commercially minded, analytically sharp Programmatic Analyst to join our Revenue Operations team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a solid grounding in the programmatic ecosystem, who is comfortable with shifting priorities, and ready to take ownership of day-to-day revenue analysis and partner management. This is NOT a data science or data engineer role. While technical knowledge is required, you will not be working with any programming languages, machine learning, etc. That being said, you may be able to expand into this in time.

You will support, and progressively lead, the management of our SSP, exchange, and technology partnerships, while producing regular and ad hoc analysis that informs commercial decision-making across the programmatic stack. You will be expected to work independently, communicate proactively, and bring a dynamic, problem-solving mindset to everything you do.

Main Responsibilities

  • Analytics & Reporting
    • Own the production of regular programmatic revenue reports, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and actionable insight without requiring close supervision.
    • Make use of Excel, Tableau and Power BI dashboards, and appropriate use of AI, to support ongoing commercial monitoring and strategic planning.
    • Conduct deep-dive analyses into yield optimisation and partner performance.
    • End-to-end management of A/B testing, from inception and deployment through to reviewing and decisioning.
    • Translate historical trends, forecasts, and budget data into clear narratives for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Partner Management & Communications
    • Support day-to-day management of our SSP, DSP, and technology partnerships, with a clear path to taking full ownership of key relationships.
    • Act as a responsive and knowledgeable point of contact for external partners, handling queries, troubleshooting issues, and identifying opportunities.
    • Proactively keep the wider team informed of partner developments: new features, product updates, known issues, and commercial opportunities.
  • Programmatic Operations
    • Support the management and optimisation of our Open Marketplace (OMP) and Private Marketplace (PMP) activity via GAM and SSPs.
    • Maintain a strong working understanding of the programmatic ecosystem; we operate in a dynamic industry.
    • Assist with troubleshooting across the programmatic stack, including ad serving, identity/ID solutions, and supply path optimisation.
    • Work within Google Ad Manager, Google Analytics, and SSP UIs on a regular basis.
  • Ad Hoc & Strategic Projects
    • Be ready to pick up miscellaneous work and business-critical projects as they arise - this role calls for someone who is curious, adaptable, and willing to operate outside a strict job remit.
    • Contribute ideas and analysis to broader revenue strategy discussions, product evaluations, and market research.

Person Specification

  • Demonstrable experience in a programmatic, publisher-side, or ad operations role.
  • Strong analytical skills with hands-on proficiency in Excel (advanced), and working knowledge of Tableau and/or Power BI.
  • Solid, practical understanding of the programmatic ecosystem, with depth in OMP and the header bidding process.
  • Working knowledge of Google Ad Manager and Google Analytics.
  • Familiarity with Direct/PMP deal structures via different pipes.
  • Highly organised with a strong eye for detail; able to run regular analysis reliably and independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; confident managing partner relationships.
  • Proactive, dynamic, and adaptable; comfortable taking initiative and handling shifting priorities.
  • Experience working with SSP UIs (e.g. Xandr, Magnite, Index Exchange, Pubmatic, and others).
  • Familiarity with identity and ID solutions (e.g. UID2, ID5, Liveramp, Intent IQ, and similar).
  • Exposure to programmatic or commercial contracting processes.
  • Experience at a publisher, media owner, or supply-side focused role.

What We Offer

  • The opportunity to work within one of the UK’s most prominent and high-traffic digital publishing environments.
  • A collaborative, fast-paced team with genuine scope for progression and responsibility.
  • Exposure to the full breadth of the programmatic and digital advertising ecosystem.
  • Training and development support.
  • Competitive salary, benefits package, and hybrid working arrangements.

Our Commitment

We are committed to increasing diversity and maintaining an inclusive workplace culture. We welcome applications from all qualified candidates regardless of their ethnicity, race, gender, religious beliefs, sexual orientation, age, marital status, or disability. We are Disability Confident Committed. Please let us know if you require any recruitment documentation in other formats or if you require reasonable adjustments to be made during the recruitment process. Please be assured that any such information will be held separately to your recruitment application and will not be considered as part of the selection process.
