We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Phase Leader to support the raising of attainment for students within the relevant Key Stage.

Salary: £25,765 annually (actual).

Hours per week: 35.

Location: 81 Crescent Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 5SL.

Key Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive learning culture through high expectations of student interactions, conduct and engagement.
  • Support Heads of Year, tutors and year teams in providing effective pastoral support for students.
  • Monitor behaviour, attendance and punctuality information, identifying patterns and supporting timely intervention.
  • Support students on report, Individual Behaviour Plans or Pastoral Support Plans.
  • Work with students at risk of disengagement, applying appropriate strategies and interventions.
  • Communicate with families and stakeholders to support positive attendance, punctuality and behaviour.
  • Liaise with safeguarding colleagues and external agencies where appropriate.
  • Contribute to a positive and inclusive atmosphere across selected year groups.

The Ideal Candidate

  • The ideal candidate will have recent experience of working within a pastoral environment and a caring, positive approach when working with students.
  • They will be able to understand and respond sensitively to student needs, support positive behaviour management and remain calm under pressure.
  • They will have clear communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to maintain confidentiality, and the confidence to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A responsible, adaptable and flexible approach will be important, alongside a commitment to ongoing service and personal development.
  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent is required.
