About This Role
Due to a member of our middle leadership team gaining a promotion to SLT we are seeking a committed and enthusiastic Teacher of History to join our team at River Academy. The successful candidate will plan and deliver highly effective and inspiring lessons, ensuring that students make exceptional progress and achieve excellent academic outcomes.
The role includes teaching History across the age and ability range, contributing to curriculum development, acting as a form tutor, and playing a full part in the wider life of the school and Trust.
Teaching and Learning
- Plan and deliver effective History lessons aligned to the Trust’s Learning and Teaching Framework.
- Adapt teaching to meet the needs of all learners, including disadvantaged students, those with SEND and the most able.
- Motivate and inspire students to engage positively and achieve highly.
- Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment, including trips and visits.
Assessment
- Use assessment effectively to inform planning and close gaps in attainment.
- Provide accurate, timely feedback and maintain clear communication with students and parents.
- Monitor progress and implement interventions where required.
Behaviour and Student Wellbeing
- Maintain high standards of behaviour for learning in line with Trust expectations.
- Create a safe, inclusive and purposeful classroom environment.
- Promote safeguarding, wellbeing and positive conduct at all times.
Pastoral and Inclusion
- Act as a form tutor and contribute to the delivery of tutor and PSMSC programmes.
- Support student attendance, behaviour and personal development.
- Contribute to provision planning and work with colleagues to support student needs.
Wider Contribution
- Contribute to the wider life of the school, including extra-curricular activities and events.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the school and Trust.
- Engage in professional development and appraisal processes.
